A binary file is what you need when the contents don't matter but the size does: testing connection speed, storage limits, or how a queue behaves under load.

Random bytes and zeros answer different questions

The difference is big, and it's worth understanding. Random bytes barely compress at all: a 100 MB file travels across the network at that size and lands in storage the same way. Zeros compress to almost nothing, so a file like this tests something else entirely: whether your system compresses data on the fly and whether the space-usage report tells the truth.

The file is built in small chunks, so even a 1 GB file doesn't eat up browser memory.
