Code 39 Barcode Generator

Uppercase Latin letters and digits: warehouses, documents, legacy equipment.

Code 39 is older than most other barcode formats, and even legacy scanners read it without trouble. The character set is small: uppercase Latin letters, digits, the space, and eight special characters. Lowercase letters are converted to uppercase, since the format knows no other case.

The price of that simplicity is length: each character takes twice as much space as in Code 128. If your string is long and your equipment is not truly ancient, Code 128 is the smarter choice.

The barcode itself starts and ends with a reserved asterisk. Some scanners return it along with the data, so your inventory system shows a string like «*ARTICLE*». That is normal behavior.
