TXT to PDF

Converts a TXT text file to PDF: Cyrillic letters in any encoding, line wrapping, font size, margins and page numbers.

Drag a TXT file here or click to browse

Open a TXT file or paste text and press the button to download a PDF. Long lines wrap at words, tab characters expand into spaces, and a page break character from old printouts starts a new page.

File encoding

Text files from old Windows programs are often saved in Windows-1251, files from DOS use encoding 866, and old email messages use KOI8-R. Open such a file in the wrong encoding and the letters turn into garbage. The encoding is detected from the text itself: in the correct one there are more lowercase Cyrillic letters. Above the text you can see which encoding is selected; if the letters still look wrong, pick another one from the list.

Font and page

A regular font works well for letters and notes. A monospaced font, like in a text editor, keeps columns and indents in place: tables built from spaces, data exports, and program listings stay aligned. The font is embedded in the file, so the PDF looks the same on any device, and its text can be copied and found with search. Page numbers go at the bottom; a header, if you need one, goes at the top of each page.

The reverse task, extracting text from a PDF, is on the PDF to TXT page.
