Repair PDF

Rebuild a broken PDF: the cross-reference table, catalog and pages are restored from the objects that survived.

Drag a PDF file here or click to choose a file The file is not sent anywhere: it is repaired right in your browser.

The tool rebuilds a PDF from whatever survived inside the file: it locates objects, restores the cross-reference table, the document catalog, and the page tree. This brings back files that no program can open, even though their content sits inside intact.

What can and cannot be repaired

What gets repaired is the internal wiring: the cross-reference table, the trailer, the catalog, and the page order. Damage to any of these is enough for a file to stop opening entirely, even with every page still in place. Bytes that are gone from the file cannot be brought back by anything: if the middle was overwritten or the download stopped halfway, there is nothing to rebuild the lost content from. In that case the tool recovers what remains and reports how many pages the file had and how many it managed to save.
