Fine tuning

The empty margin around the code is how a scanner finds its edge. Without it, neighboring text or background gets in the frame and the code stops scanning. The standard requires four modules, that is four code cells.

Damage allowance: the code still scans even if part of it is worn, covered by a sticker or smudged. The higher the level, the more space the allowance takes, so with the same data the code grows in modules and each module gets smaller. If a logo is loaded, we set H ourselves: the logo covers part of the code.

The tool is free, with no sign-up and no watermarks. Use the image anywhere, including print and advertising.

What goes into the code

The network name, password, security type, and a hidden-network flag. A phone reads this string and offers to connect with one tap: typing the password by hand is not needed.

Semicolons, commas, colons, quotes, and backslashes are special characters in a password. We escape them, so the password arrives exactly as you entered it.

Network type

WPA works for nearly everyone: that is how home routers, cafes, and small offices run. The no-password option is for open networks. WEP appears only on old equipment.

Networks that require a personal login, like those at universities and large companies, cannot be joined through the code: the format needs a username and a certificate, and it has no fields for them. This is a limit of the format itself, not of our tool.

Hidden network

If your router does not broadcast its name, check the box. Then the phone will not wait for the network to appear in the list but will probe the air for the name on its own. Without this flag, a code for a hidden network often fails.

Your password never reaches a server

The network password stays on your device and never gets into our logs or database. Keep in mind only that a printed code shows the password to anyone who scans it.
