Decode a recording

If your code comes as audio โ€” from a movie, a game, or a radio โ€” drop the file here. Speed, pitch and symbol boundaries are detected automatically. The recording never leaves your browser.

Code chart

The tool converts text to Morse code and back, plays it as sound, and decodes an existing recording. It works with Russian and Latin letters, digits, and punctuation marks, and includes a code table with mnemonics.

Decoding a recording

If your Morse code exists as audio, drop the file into the "Decode recording" field. The tone frequency, speed, and symbol boundaries are detected from the recording itself, so there is nothing to set up. Decoding works with a steady tone: a walkie-talkie beep, a game buzzer, or a movie signal will do; speech and music will not.

Punctuation differs between the two alphabets

In the Russian alphabet, a period is encoded as "......", while ".-.-.-" stands for a comma. In the international system it is the other way around: ".-.-.-" is a period, and a comma is written as "--..--", which reads as an exclamation mark in the Russian alphabet. The tool assigns the marks of the system the text itself belongs to, and both sets are shown in the table.
