Cyrillic Transliteration
Converts Cyrillic text to translit, right in the browser.
The tool writes Cyrillic text in Latin letters and converts it back. It detects the direction from the text itself, and the result updates as you type.
Preset modes
The rules for writing Cyrillic in Latin letters depend on what the result is for, so there are four presets:
- for links: lowercase letters, spaces become hyphens, punctuation is removed;
- GOST 7.79-2000, system B;
- passports: the rules of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the same as the ICAO standard;
- simple: the way people usually write in casual messages.
Contested letters
Ё, ж, й, х, ц, щ, э, ю, я, and the hard and soft signs are written differently in different transliteration tables, which is why services disagree. You can override any of these letters, and the mode becomes your own.
Post-processing
Case, replacing spaces with hyphens or underscores, and removing punctuation are set up separately. In the mode for links these options are already turned on.
One run handles up to 50,000 characters.
