Random IP Generator

Generates random IPv4 and IPv6 addresses: public ones without reserved blocks, private ones, or addresses from a subnet or range.

Public IPv4 addresses come from the whole address space except the blocks in the IANA special-purpose registry: private networks, the provider range 100.64.0.0/10, loopback, documentation addresses, multicast and reserved ranges. That is why the list never contains an address that does not exist on the Internet.

Private addresses come from the three RFC 1918 networks, and documentation addresses from TEST-NET-1, 2 and 3 (RFC 5737). The latter are safe to use in examples and tutorials: they are never used on the Internet.

Subnet, range and IPv6

In the custom network mode, addresses come from a subnet or a range, for example 192.168.1.0/24 or 10.0.0.1 - 10.0.0.50. The list contains no duplicates, and if the network holds fewer addresses than you asked for, the generator tells you so.

IPv6 addresses can be global, from 2000::/3 without the special-purpose blocks, local, or documentation ones. Local addresses follow RFC 4193: every address in the list shares one random fd00::/48 network, just like a real site. The random numbers come from a cryptographic generator.
