Normal Distribution Generator

Set the mean and the standard deviation, choose how many numbers you need and how many decimal places to keep.

Most values fall close to the mean. About 68% of the numbers lie within one standard deviation of the mean, about 95% within two, and 99.7% within three. The mean and deviation of the finished set are close to the values you set but do not match them exactly: the more numbers you generate, the closer they get.

Numbers within a range

If you fill in the "from" and "to" fields, values outside the range are never returned: each one is replaced by a new draw. This produces a truncated normal distribution, for example heights between 150 and 200 cm with no rare outliers. The range check applies to rounded numbers, so the limits hold even after rounding. If fewer than 0.1% of values would fall into the range at the given mean and deviation, the generator will tell you.

Uniform numbers

If every number in the range should be equally likely, for example for a giveaway, use the random number generator instead.
