Steganography

Hide text or a file inside an image and get it back out. With a password, the content is encrypted.

The image never leaves your browser: hiding and reading both run locally. Save the result as PNG — in JPEG, the payload does not survive recompression.

The tool hides text or a file inside an image and extracts the hidden data back.

For every pixel, it modifies the least significant bit of a color channel. The shade shifts by one step out of 256, which the eye cannot detect, and three bits per pixel add up to a noticeable capacity: a 12-megapixel photo carries about 4.5 MB. The page calculates right away how much fits into your particular image and shows the number next to the field.

Without a password, the hidden data stays in plain sight: anyone who knows where to look can read it. With a password, the content is encrypted, and there is no way to recover it without the password. The file name and the checksum sit inside the encryption, so nothing on the outside gives an attacker anything to guess the password by.
