Remove Video Metadata

Strips shooting coordinates, dates, tags, track names and vendor blocks from a video.

Drag a file here or click MP4, MOV, M4V, MKV, WebM, and AVI. No size limit

The file stays in your browser and is never uploaded to a server. A one-gigabyte video takes just a few megabytes of memory: only the headers are read.

Shooting coordinates, tags, vendor blocks, and XMP are always removed.

What a video knows about the shoot

A clip from your phone stores the coordinates of the place where it was recorded, accurate to within a few meters. Next to them sit the date and time down to the second, the device model, and the OS version. Cameras and drones add their own block: firmware, serial number, shooting mode.

All of this travels with the file when you send it in a messenger or upload it to a file-sharing service.

We do not store or track your videos

Nothing you clean up here is kept or tracked by us.

What gets removed

  • shooting coordinates, including altitude above sea level;
  • creation and modification dates, which are written in three places: on the file, on each track, and on the track's content;
  • tags: title, author, software, device model, comments;
  • maker blocks, where GoPro, DJI, and Insta360 write their own data;
  • XMP markup;
  • track names, which usually hold the name of the software or camera.

Supported formats

MP4, MOV, and M4V are parsed in full. For MKV, WebM, and AVI, tags and dates are stripped. The format is detected from the file's contents, not from its extension.

Other file types

For photos, there is metadata removal and an EXIF viewer; for documents, PDF metadata removal and Word cleanup.
