Website Speed Test
Load time broken into phases: DNS, connection, server response and page weight.
The test measures how long a page takes to open on a first visit and breaks that time into phases: DNS lookup, connection to the server, setting up encryption, waiting for the response, and downloading the HTML.
The breakdown shows where the time goes. Slow DNS, a long wait for the response, and a heavy HTML file are fixed in different ways, and a single total number does not tell them apart.
Single page analysis
For a single address, the tool also loads the page contents: images, scripts, and styles, the same way a browser does. The result shows the weight by file type, a score on a 100-point scale, and a list of things worth fixing.
List comparison
Up to 200 addresses can be checked at once. In this mode the tool measures only the phases and the HTML, without the page contents: that is enough to compare pages against each other. The result can be exported to CSV.
What a single measurement will not show
The page is requested once, from one location, so the score thresholds are set generously. A single measurement catches random spikes, so run the test several times before drawing conclusions. A visitor in another region or on a mobile network will see different times.
