CRC32 Calculator

Calculates the CRC32 of text, hex bytes, and files of any size right in the browser, with a choice of text encoding.

Why the same text gets different CRC32 values

CRC32 is computed from the bytes of the text, and the number of bytes depends on the encoding. "Привет" takes 12 bytes in UTF-8 and 6 in windows-1251, so the sums differ: A8EAB199 and D05FA41F. If your sum does not match what another program shows, check the encoding and the line endings.

This page computes the standard CRC-32, the same one used in ZIP archives and PNG images. For the string "123456789" it equals CBF43926.

CRC32 of a file

You can select several files at once: each file gets its own checksum.

CRC32 catches accidental corruption during transfer and storage, but it does not protect against forgery: crafting a file with a chosen checksum is not hard. To verify authenticity, use SHA-256 from the hash generator.
